Ben is well known as a prolific composer of solo piano music in a wide range of contemporary styles. Having started piano lessons at the age of 5, he developed a keen interest in composition and synthesis in his teens, and is highly regarded as a sound designer for various instruments, most notably the Access Virus.
Rainbow Hill is part of his album Songs From Rainbow Hill, which was just released on Bigo & Twigetti. The piece draws its title from a hill near his home in Worcestershire, England. Ben explains that “due to the location and height of the hill, rainbows are a common occurrence here, especially in the late afternoon and early evening. Almost always, they radiate against a backdrop of the dark grey clouds that have just passed over, resulting in a spellbinding atmosphere of petrichor, soft golden light, and darkness defeated by triumphant colour.”
